About Us

Shawano County Arts Council (SCAC) is a Multi-faceted
Community Arts Organization

AS A PRESENTER

We sponsor the Box In The Wood Theatre Guild, the Shawano Art & Craft Fair and the
Shawano Folk Music Festival. We are always looking for more opportunities to bring arts events to our area.

AS A FACILITY MANAGER

We maintain and operate the Mielke Arts Center as the focal point in a four county area and as a venue for touring and
community activities.

AS A LOCAL ARTS AGENCY

We provide technical assistance and services to the Shawano County 4-H, area high schools, the Shawano Jaycees and other arts and civic groups. In addition, SCAC speaks on arts issues in the community, works with statewide arts consortia and provides services for both private and community events.

AS AN ART-IN-EDUCATION BROKER

We arrange symposiums in local schools with visiting artists and strives to further student opportunities to determine their
place in the arts.

AS A COMMUNITY RESOURCE

We cooperate with local high schools, the Shawano County 4-H, the Shawano Country Chamber of Commerce, the Tourism Marketing and Advertising Council, Shawano County, local professional presenters and others.

AS A FUND-RAISER

We maintain a progressive relationship with the Mielke Family Foundation, Shawano County, the City of Shawano, the Wisconsin Arts Board and hundreds of patrons in order to fund special and capital projects.
