The Quilt Raffle is a Festival tradition. Raffle tickets are available festival weekend at the Raffle Booth. You can see the quilts on stage during evening concerts and at the Raffle Booth during the day. We can’t thank Arlene Stucker, Donna Bubolz and Durham Herzog enough for their gifts of these extraordinarily beautiful quilts.
Arlene Stucker lives in Pulaski and is a member of Warmth from the Heart Quilters. She’s been making Festival Quilts for many years. Arlene’s queen-sized 2017 quilt, in shades of blue and yellow, is called “Woven Star.”
Donna Bubolz lives and quilts in Oconto Falls and is another member of Warmth From the Heart Quilters. Her 2017 quilt, done in browns, is called “Cabin in the Stars.” It is also queen-sized.
Both quilts are beautifully machine-quilted by Durham Herzog.
Arlene and Donna will be in the lobby of the Mielke Arts Center during the weekend, answering your questions and demonstrating the art of quilting.

Summer at the Mielke Arts Center is a constant series of projects, whether
it is meetings, construction of a stage set, rehearsal of the summer
musical, layout of the grounds for the Art Fair and Folk Music Festival, or
getting maintenance work done so all the upcoming events go smoothly.
We are lucky to have a core of dedicated volunteers to implement all
this, but we could use more help…all the time! Whether it’s ushering,
helping with advertising or moving stage flats, we need you! If you’d like
to be a part of the Mielke experience, please call me at 715-823-6237 or
Mary Madsen at 715-787-4130.
“South Pacific”, Rodgers & Hammerstein’s classic musical is on the Mielke
stage this summer, July 13-16 and 20- 23. Tickets are still only $12 for adults
and $7 for youth under 18. Call 715-526-2525 to reserve your tickets.
Purchase online at shawanoarts.com. Ticket outlets are the Shawano
Chamber of Commerce and B&H Fashions in Clintonville.
Don’t forget the one day Arts & Crafts Fair on Sunday July 30, 10am to
4pm in the Mielke park. Many vendors, a variety of fine art and crafts,
and fun food to nibble on while you stroll the grounds. Walking tacos, fruit
cups, and pasta salad will be offered, plus heartier fare like hamburgers &
brats, grilled right by the food wagon. Admission is always a free will
offering, with a suggested $2 for our efforts. All profit is put right back into
the fund that supports this event.
The Folk Music Festival, August 11,12,13, promises to be another happy
musical event at the Mielke, with many professional, well known folk artists
on hand to entertain you. For ticket information, go online to
www.shawanofestival.org or stop at the Shawano Chamber of
Commerce. You can also call Linda at 920-822-5042.
We are happy to announce that our Mielke Childrens Theatre Workshop is
filled again this year. We look forward to welcoming back some returnees
as well as meeting new students. The workshop runs 6pm to 8:30pm,
August 14 to 18, with the kids’ production of “ALADDIN” on Saturday the
19th at 2pm. What a fun week that will be!
